About Todd Emenecker and
Thos Hall Guitars
My family and I live in the
beautiful Pocono mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania. At a young age I was
introduced to the world of stringed instruments, woodworking, and luthery by my
uncle and grandfather in upstate New York. An artistic child who grew into an
art-loving adult, I moved around, dabbled in art and even sold a few sketches,
but worked to ignore my desire to create with my hands for more “practical”
pursuits. As a young adult, always with my guitar by my side, that passion for
art and beauty began to meld with the long-ago luthery experiences of my
childhood, and a desire to hand craft guitars grew within me until, in 2001, I
could no longer ignore that call. Walking away from the high-tech, high-stress
career I knew to work with my hands was one of the hardest choices I ever made,
and also one of the best. Encouraged by a design award at a Martin guitar
workshop and sage advice from several established luthiers, I moved from the
bustling city life I knew in Philadelphia to the peaceful mountains and set to
work. I named my guitar business after my grandfather, and Thos. Hall Guitars
was born.
I love what I do and would
love to share it with you. I pride myself in the beauty and artistry of my
instruments but also the tone and playability. For the experienced and
discerning player, there is nothing like a custom guitar designed with you and
your style of play in mind. I also handle many types of repairs. If your path ever leads you to East
Stroudsburg, near the beautiful Delaware Water Gap, I encourage you to give me a
call and look me up, or take a look around the website and drop me a line to let
me know what you think.
